Thursday, July 30 | 6-9 pm | Opening: Tierney Malone: La Cosa Nostra.
Houston artist Tierney L. Malone presents ”La Cosa Nostra,” a series of new works that reflect Malone’s continuing investigation of text and typography, as well as his passion for music, storytelling and cinema. Literally “our thing,” cosa nostra is synonymous with the Sicilian mafia. These works are inspired by Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Godfather (Parts 1 & 2).”  Tierney Malone is a nationally-known artist working in Houston. His work is included in many prominent collections across the country-the public collections of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and the Kansas City Jazz Museum; and the private collections of jazz singer Kurt Elling and New York Yankees catcher Jorge Posada.  Through August 30.  Free.  KHON’S wine darts coffee art, 2808 Milam.
Now Through August 29.  The Tamarie Cooper Show: Journey to the Center of My Brain (in 3D!).  Houston Chronicle preview by Everett Evans.  Cooper’s new show takes the audience on a journey to the center of her brain  (enter at your own risk!).  Singing neurotransmitters, brainfarts, raging hormones, Tamarie’s inner child, id, and super-ego are just some of the characters featured in this journey of self-discovery, science-style! In this world premiere musical extravaganza, Tamarie plays herself and she shares the stage with Catastrophic favorites Kyle Sturdivant as her Self-Control, Walt Zipprian as Dopamine, Noel Bowers as a blues-singing brainfart as well as Daniel Adame, Julie Boneau, Jeremy Carlson, Sara Jo Dunstan, Rebecca Randall Feit, DeWitt Gravink, Christian Holmes, Sean Patrick Judge, Richard Lyders, and Karina Pal-Montano Bowers. All tickets to The Tamarie Cooper Show: Journey To The Center Of My Brain (In 3D!) are PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN.  Suggested ticket price is $25 but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.  For tickets, call the Stages Repertory box office at 713-527-8243 or visit www.stagestheatre.comwww.catastrophictheatre.com.  3201 Allen Parkway.
Friday, July 31 | 8 pm - 2 am | Rockstar Karaoke with Emerging Leaders + HYPA at Sammy’s at 2016 Main. 50% of the sales of the Downtown-tini support Houston Downtown Alliance Emerging Leaders and Houston Young People for the Arts.  Not your typical amateur vocal phenomena, this show puts YOU on stage with a hot four-piece band, in an experience complete with costumes, props, back-up vocals and a screaming crowd (hopefully screaming yays instead of boos!).  Free.  2016 Main.
Saturday, August 1 | 6 pm - 10 pm | White Linen Night in the Heights.  The Houston Heights invites community members and art lovers to wear white linen, explore the neighborhood, and celebrate their annual White Linen Night. Billed as “sultry, steamy, exotic and artfully provocative,” the evening offers art, entertainment, shopping, dining, signature drinks from eclectic bars and white linen fashion.  White Linen Night banners will identify participating shops, restaurants, and galleries, scattered throughout the Heights, from 19th Street, Studewood and Yale to Heights Blvd., White Oak and Washington.  This year’s celebration will offer complimentary hospitality receptions at different gathering places. Also new are private pre-parties, VIP parties and after-parties.  www.whitelinennightheights.com. Free (not including pre-parties and after parties).
