HOME - Aramco Brats’ Story is a feature length documentary film depicting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as seen through the eyes of the Western expatriate children who grew up there between 1933 and present day. Aramco Brats were the children of expatriate workers who were employed by Aramco (Arabian American Oil Company) and who spent their childhoods within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The film is an amazing depiction of Saudi Arabia, Arabs, and Islam narrated by nearly 100 average Western citizens of all faiths, who choose not to concentrate on religion, but rather look at the other cultural aspects that many overlook when unfairly judging these people and their nations.
The directors all have Houston ties…also Aramco’s US headquarters is located here. And to create an even closer tie…I was born in Saudi Arabia and was most recently there 2001-2003, and my sister had some nice Aramco Brat-ish moments. It’s also a country that is very near and dear to our hearts and a lot of people don’t understand –either negative press or there really aren’t that many opportunities to get over there. Plus, I hear a quick shot of my dad in the 70s is in the film too. Eeek.
Should be a nice, informative, engaging evening of all sorts!
